If you could host a dinner party inviting four people from history, who would you invite and where would the party take place?
- Clive Staples Lewis –> no brainer. He’s phenominal! Oh to be able to pick his brain!
- Oswald Chambers –> love love LOVE! his book of devotionals, My Utmost for His Highest
- Charles Haddon Spurgeon –> “Prince of Preachers” As long as he agreed to the no smoking policy, I would greatly desire his presence and conversational input at any gathering.
- William Wilburforce –> champion of the abolitionist movement in England in the late 18th century. I adored the movie Amazing Grace and I think it would be fascinating to meet the man himself. He was known to be quite the motivational speaker in public, but I want to see what he’s like when there’s no pressure.
I did decide to refrain from including people in the Bible for a couple of reasons, mainly because I think it would be a bit of an easy out and I wanted to put some thought into this as I have already put a good deal of thought into who in the Bible I would most love to meet in person. If you would like my list of four of those, however, you may ask in a comment on this post. Also I chose extra-biblical persons because I like to promote folks who others may not have heard of (except I’m pretty sure C. S. Lewis is fairly well-known internationally) so that they can look into these remarkable men and get into their writings.
